I have been to this restaurant several times for dinner and just love it. The owner, Monica, was always very accommodating. Before your orders arrived they usually would provide a complimentary disk such as Chinese style rose peonuts mixed with little fishes.
The cuisine is of authentic Taiwanese style, which is a niche Chinese dinning and makes the place stand out. Starting at 9 p.m. guests are welcome to stay for Karaoke singing. The atmosphere is casual and friendly so chances are other dinners will join you in singing.
It is a fun place that I look forward to come again and again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - flora c.Alhambra, CA28795Feb 25, 2024
Ok place but more meant for large parties, the portions and price also reflects that.
I tried the rice noodle. The portion was huge, but it had very sparse "mix-in" that usually should come with this dish. Only few slices of shredded pork and cabbage. Even the carrots were only very few sprigs. In my opinion these thinly sliced mix ins are very important in this dish since it provides appropriate texture and variety with each bite.
The Loofah with clams was pretty good I would recommend it.
The cabbage stew hot pot was not bad. Although could use more different ingredients inside.
Overall flavor execution is indeed authentic Taiwaneee.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 26, 2023
Place was empty on a Thursday night. Came in to the dining experience with a positive mindset but it turned into a disappointment. Food was expensive compared to another taiwanese restaurant that I tried in Rowland Heights and they sell the same type of dishes!
Ordered the three cup chicken, spicy pork intestine with pork blood, and salted egg with bitter melon.
The three cup chicken had barely any meat. It was mostly bones with sauce. For people who have little to no teeth it will be difficult to eat and I say that with caution! Some pieces of bone did fall off when I bit into the chicken. For $25.99 a dish you would expect at least some chicken thighs. I could have just gone to the supermarket bought some chicken thighs and made this myself at home and I'm speaking from personal experience. I did make this dish at home before.
The salted egg with bitter melon was good. Liked that it was cooked with white bitter melon instead of the green kind.
Loved the spicy pork intestine with pork blood. Paired perfectly well with complimentary two bowls of white rice.
Meal ended with dessert - green grass jelly with aiyu jelly. It was surprisingly good.
Service was ok, one of the ladies was friendlier than the other. One of them looked bitchy looking with long hair to her shoulders. No smile nothing and only had a good attitude when it came time to pay the bill. Sorry but not sorry. Won't be coming back with this passive aggressive attitude.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dong P.El Monte, CA2714Apr 4, 2024

Not sure about how 'authentic' (whatever that word means), but the Taiwanese dishes here are served up in large American portions and pretty good-tasting overall. The crispy stinky tofu could be more stinky and crispy, the Taiwanese rice noodle could be more flavorful, but the loofah was spot-on and easily the best veggie on the menu. The oyster omelette was also pretty legit in flavor and texture.
Free appetizer of roasted peanuts and salted fish.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 20, 2023
Orange Bistro is a new Taiwanese restaurant located in Alhambra. The interior is big with large tables, karaoke, and private rooms. Monica our server did an excellent job as our server. Our group could not decide whether to get the fried stinky tofu or the steamed stinky tofu, so we got both. We also had the following dishes:
Clam soup 5/5 lots of clams
Herring roe 4/5
Yea smoked duck 4/5
Preserved egg with jalapeños 4/5
Fried chitins 4/5
Pork blood cake 4/5
Dragon whiskers veggie 5/5
Salted egg yoke crab 4/5
Steamed stinky tofu 4/5
Fried stinky tofu 4/5
Parking structure in the back of the restaurant. Service was excellent. They do start to sing karaoke later into the night and it's nice if the patrons are talented and can sing. "But pretty annoying if they are bad". That night we had to get out of there.Helpful 66Thanks 4Love this 52Oh no 0 - Joannie F.Redwood City, CA324312Mar 9, 2024
Love the food and kind service. A nice clean establishment that serves authentic Taiwanese dishes. My parents, both Taiwanese, said this is the most traditional taste that they have experienced in S Cal, that's saying a lot!

I came here for a family style dinner here. The food here was surprisingly good. The portions here were huge but that was maybe due to the host and his selection on the menu. Seafood was surprisingly and some of the dishes had some Cantonese twists. There is a lot of Taiwanese food to choose from and the offerings are quite extensive. Overall I had a lovely time here and would come back again.

Service is friendly. The owner lady is friendly.
1) 4-star
Soup pot: Taro, cabbage, oysters, whole Pomfret fish, fish ball, Light flavor w/huge portion! Big enough to feed 6-peep.
2). 2-star
Loofa (Silky squash) fried w/ Sakura shrimp: tastes okay. Sakura shrimp is tiny chewy hard. The oil their kitchen use is not in my taste, the oily taste is too strong. ..it takes away any good flavor...
3). 4-star
Steamed Stinky Tofu:
Steamed version topped w/garlic, green bean, pickled cabbage and Chinese bacon, which is very flavorful!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1
