Byrd's Famous Cookies - City Market

When in Savanah, Byrd's Famous Cookies is a must and a staple of the community. Being open decades and thriving, they have mastered their products. The thin bite sized cookies come in many flavors and even have a bar area to make your own assorted box for purchase. They key lime are heavenly!! We bought several packages to bring home from vacation with us! The staff were so friendly and the store has a welcoming, homey feel. Highly recommend!

Was so pleasantly surprised by this cookie shop! Normally I love big gooey cookies but these small crispy treats were delicious!!
The best part about it is the sample bar in the back. They let you taste EVERY flavor available. The short bread and the oatmeal might be my favorite. While my wife really loved all the savory options. They have a 'fill your own box' bar that I recommend. You can get a mixture of all the sweet flavors and fill the box to the top. Definitely encourage you to check it out!

Came here with my teen daughter after dinner around 8PM on a weeknight. This is located in city market so even as you approach the store, you hear liveliness from the market and live music from the nearby restaurants fill the air.

We walked up to the tasting counter and the server there was genuinely happy for us to try as many cookies as we wanted at no charge. I tried 3 different cookie - all delicious. My teenager tried one cookie and decided to stop because she didn't want to second guess her cookie choices.

In the end, we bought a small both and added assorted cookies fill up to the brim. Great price, wonderful values and great family experience. Highly recommend.

I had never heard of these famous cookies before so we ventured in and I was impressed with the Dutch oatmeal cookies. The lemon cookie was a little too sweet for me but those little cookies are big on flavor.

I had been to Savannah's City Market several times in the past and I had never noticed this cookie store...so this last time, I decided to come in and see what the "Famous" was all about.

When I walked in, a young guy in the right counter told me to stop by the back wall for some free samples, I thanked him and I headed that way. There were so many jars of cookies, it was hard for me to decide, but as a lover of chocolate chip cookies, that's the one I picked...The cookie was on the thin side, crisp to the bite and kind of moist on the inside...my experience was average, I was not crazy about this cookie...I actually thought I have had better flavor and textures from some other national brands easily available at stores in Fort Lauderdale or Providence....

So I did not buy any of them but I thought the decor and ambiance of this location was really cute and really charming...very touristy....but very cute...

We went into Byrd's Famous Cookies with no expectations and came out knowing that Byrd's is some of the best desserts we've had! They give out free tastings of their cookies which gets you hooked on buying their products!
They have a range of products such as their sweet cookies, savory biscuits, brownie pies, and more. All of the people at the store were very friendly and even the customers suggested that we try the Georgia Peach cookies which were very delicious sour peach cookies which I would highly recommend. The store was very clean and had plenty of cookies to choose from. They kept it nice and bright with the toasting bar looking like an old bar which added to the personality of Byrd's.
When I get back to Savannah, I'm definitely coming back to Byrd's!

You can't leave Savannah without cookies from Byrd's or at least a sample!

Oatmeal, caramel, and the fruit (peach) were my favorites.

MIX-N-MATCH- make your own mixture! Highly recommend doing this if your walking the city. Perfect snack to keep you going.

TINY- these cookies are the cutest little things. The size of a quarter, but the taste is priceless.

This Byrd's store is located in the east side of River street. The store is super nice with the amazing cookie smell where not only you can buy cookies but also others souvenirs. Cookies are perfect if you like crunchy cookies. I loved the scotch oatmeal ones. There is a free sample cookie bar where you can have a little taste of everything before you buy. There are even gluten-free cookies!

The price is ok, and the customer service was excellent and friendly.

Every time my family or friends catch wind that I'm headed back to Savannah, they all request the same thing - bring me a bag of cookies from byrds. Thin and crispy... perfectly delicious. I have trouble stopping once I start in on a bag. Love me some Byrds!!!

Honestly free samples for cookies, hot damn! The sales associates were so nice. I even tried some of the butterscotch cookie and she offered to heat it up for me. It was delicious. I would return again.
