Q:
How's their coffee?
A:
I think it's pretty great. It's from Mountain Air Roasters, nice dark roast. I know I'm a bit biased but people seem to love our coffee. Many other businesses use the same company, it's a good one. Come try it out and let me know what you think.

Asheville classic.
I'm so bummed to hear they are closing. They really had a way of bringing breakfast to life with extraordinary ingredients. Not your grandmas breakfast and done with a southern flair that's unforgettable.
I've had farm fresh veggies here id never heard of before as part of a meal and loved it.
Truly sad to see such a unique restaurant leave the downtown Asheville scene.
Best wishes!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I had planned to spend a full day exploring downtown Asheville, and as such I wanted to find a place to sit and eat for breakfast. I had put a couple of places on my itinerary, but in terms of location Over Easy Cafe fit the best with where I wanted to be that day. The menu and reviews looked great so I was excited to give it a try.
Over Easy is popular and does not take reservations, as such when we approached around 9:15am we were told there would be about a 45 minute wait. No big deal because there was plenty I wanted to explore. The restaurant utilizes the Yelp Waitlist so we were able to track how close we were to getting called, and after about a half hour or so we got that text.
The interior is small, I would say there were no more than 20 or so tables as well as counter seating. The menu isn't large but they have a nice variety of items. The Foothills Omelette caught my eye so I went with that - chorizo, sweet onions, Japanese fry peppers, purlsane, road cheese, and salsa verde. I was able to choose a side (I got hash browns) and a bread (I got a biscuit because, you know, South). The omelette was good - even though there were a lot of components the flavors and textures really complemented each other; everything tasted super fresh. The potatoes were good and I always love a good biscuit.
Service was good, everyone was friendly enough - I did find check-ins from the staff to be a little slow, like I would have liked someone to stop by the table and see if I wanted more coffee every now and then. Personal gripe aside, I had a good breakfast at Over Easy. They pump out the goods here and is worth a stop in if you're in Asheville.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 494475425Jul 29, 2019
3 years of living in Asheville. 3 years missing Over Easy Cafe in my life. One fine summer morning, I had an appointment in the area and thought, hmm, why not try Over Easy Cafe. After hearing so much about it, I waited about 20 minutes (they have text paging) for a table and sat inside.
The interior is bustling, narrow, but painted a soothing blue with a casual, comfortable vibe and a long bar.
The menu is small, but carefully curated, each description sounded better than the first.
We were greeted promptly and ordered "Vietnamese Iced Coffees." They don't have espresso here, just coffee and teas, so their Vietnamese iced coffee was a decent approximation, but not as good as the real deal.
But thankfully, their food stands up to their reputation. I ordered the Seasonal Hash and my husband ordered the Foothills Omelette. The Hash was gorgeous and equally remarkable flavors. I LOVED it. Sweet potatoes, slightly crispy regular potatoes, yellow long beans, sausage, over easy egg, frisee. It was an amazing combination of color, texture and flavor. It was out of this world.
My husband's omelette was hearty and delicious. Not quite the incredible dance of flavors and textures as my dish, but boy, his was good too. Lots of sausage, a bit of salsa verde, flaky biscuit and perfectly cooked grits.
This is a busy breakfast place with plenty of reason to back it up. Go here and prepared to be wowed. Awesome local place in a prime downtown location that actually is delicious!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Great food and enjoyable atmosphere. Not much seating and it's a popular spot especially on the weekends so come during opening hours. Food is unique and amazing. Service was too notch, would love to come again.

Absolutely a must stop if you're in the Asheville area for breakfast! I knew upon arrival, that if their incredible rating after 500+ reviews wasn't enough, the line forming on the sidewalk solidified my thoughts that this was going to be exceptional!
The Huevos Rancheros is a must try as it's just that damn good! The incredible chorizo, corn, black beans, avocado, two eggs, and whatever other goodness they slip in there is just magic! The portion is huge, and probably should be at $12. The coffee is ground on site, and has a darkness that I can appreciate! The breakfast tacos that they serve, and the seasonal Benedict's, are all incredible looking as well!
Like nearly every restaurant in Asheville, a genuine smile comes with every visit...Over Easy is no different!Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you so much for the compliments! So glad we met your expectations! The Huevos Rancheros actually has sea island red peas, instead of beans. Geechie Boy Mill is where we get them! Thanks!

This downtown spot in Asheville is no joke. It's teeny-tiny and the wait can be long, but everything was super-duper fresh. I ordered the poulet rouge omelette (confit heritage chicken, caramelized red onion, cauliflower, red oxheart cabbage, spinach, chocolate lab cheese, and salsa verde) holy cow it was huge! Plus so darn good. My boyfriend opted for the seasonal hash bowl (butternut squash, rutabaga, turnips, red and sweet potato, frisee, radishes, mountain gouda, over easy egg, with veggie sausage). Not only is the food beautiful but it's so delicious. We paired it with their coffee but we're tempted by their fresh juices and cocktails.
This is such a cute place in such a cute part of Asheville, I recommend it!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 5, 2018
This place was so small that it had to to be adorably cute.
Other than feeling I was sitting in my neighbor's lap this place was fine. They are only open a short amount of hours so expect to wait I'm a line. We got there like before 10 and was seated immediately.
I ain't gonna lie. This food is no joke delicious.
Got the Huevos Rancheros and the crunch from the corn tortilla between the chorizo hash and the egg was a neat surprise. The black porridge looked odd but not unappetising. Ok me bit though and you won't stop eating at it.
The croissant sandwich was flaky and fillling. I could only eat half cuz the richness of the sandwich and the cheesiness of the grits I had as my side just filled me up.
This place rocks. Oh did I mention I had a Wake Me Up coffee? Well I don't normally day drink but their Wake Me Up coffee would.
Now it's pricey but well worth the money. I don't mind paying good money for good food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 32491822804Mar 7, 2018
I do not understand the hype of the Over Easy Cafe. It is a very small diner with high prices for what you get. The day I was there they did not seem to fully prepared to open. The kitchen was still figuring out the specials.
I went with the basic breakfast with two eggs, fruit, a biscuit then paid $3.55 more for bacon to go with it. But the bacon was overcooked and burnt around the edges. I was surprised they would serve it that way but they must not want repeat business. They need to work on the service as well here especially with drink refills.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Elizabeth B.Orlando, FL282215603Mar 4, 2020
I can see why this place is so popular. First off, I highly recommend placing yourself on the online waiting list!! This cafe is very small with no waiting area. It fills up fast so expect a wait during peak hours. Since I placed us on the waiting list, my parents and I didn't have to wait and were seated as soon as we got there. Parking is street parking, which is pretty cheap. I think we spent maybe $3 for 2 hours.
I got the eggs benedict of the day. They were on an open faced biscuit and the pairing of the sauce and cheese was just fantastic. The ham was a bit salty, but considering I finished my food (which I never do), I would call this a win. It also came with breakfast potatoes. My dad got the seasonal hash and loved his meal as well. It was huge and he ended up taking it home. He ordered the Hydration fresh squeezed juice, which he reported as tasty but I personally think is overpriced at $8. I also ordered a chai latte, which was actually pretty good! My mom wasn't hungry so she ordered the soysage, which is some sort of vegan sausage. For the 3 of us we spent about $51.
The quality and presentation of the food is top notch and well worth the wait! I'll repeat again: USE THE VIRTUAL WAIT LIST. If you're still waiting, you can walk around downtown Asheville and explore! You definitely have to check this place out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 26, 2018
Yum yum yum!!! I would come back here in a heartbeat! We ate here two days in a row of our 3-day trip. Get in early or download the No Wait app to get on the waitlist. They get so busy!!!
Breakfast here is the best! The Breakfast Croissant was my fav (i got it both days!). My husband got the Breakfast Burger and our friend got the eggs Benedict. All AMAZING (i tried them all).
My drink (can't remember the name) had vodka AND champagne. My husband got a hot Jack Daniels drink and our friend got a Kahlua, Baileys, Vodka coffee. WOW. See pics.
All food is locally sourced and you can tell the difference!
Priced reasonably and a must visit when in Asheville!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
